General surgeon Dr. Malcolm Schulz joins Jersey Community Hospital staff

JERSEYVILLE – Jersey Community Hospital is welcoming its newest addition to the medical staff, Dr. Malcolm Schulz.

Dr. Schulz is a board-certified, general surgeon who has been in practice for approximately 20 years. He performs a wide range of surgical procedures including many minimally invasive procedures and endoscopy.

“We are really fortunate to be able to recruit a general surgeon with such nice inter-personal skills and a very strong surgical background,” Larry Bear, Jersey Community Hospital administrator, said.

“He will be a fine addition to the JCH medical community and whill be a great healp to many patients,” he added.

Schulz comes to Jersey County from St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) and his medical degree from LSU Shreveport.

Dr. Schulz is pleased to be a part of the Jersey county community.

“I prefer practicing in a small town, having practiced in bigger cities,” he continued.

This week he is busy settling in his office and looks to beginning surgical procedures within the next couple of weeks.

Schulz is married to Diane and has two sons, ages 13 and 9.
