She was born January 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Cecil and Thelma (Vikery) Warren. She married William B. Dahlberg in 1977.
Survivors include her husband; children; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and three sisters, including Janet Schumaker of Jerseyville.

Shirley Mae Young
Funeral services were held Monday at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin for Shirley Mae Young of Alton.
Mrs. Young, 73, died December 16 at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born July 4, 1935 in Hardin, the daughter of the late Harley C. and Minnie (Hunter) Johnson. She married Russell Webster; he died in 1966. She later married Clarence Orion Young who died in 1989.
Survivors include a son; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Barbara Hammond of Jerseyville.

Funeral services were held Monday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto for Don A. Balsters.
Mr. Balsters, 47, died December 11 at his home.
He was born September 3, 1961 in Alton, the son of Peggy A. (Sawyer) Balsters and the late Harold W. Balters.
He was a self-employed developer, appraiser and realtor, most recently with Landmark Realty in Bethalto. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto and currently was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. He was past president of the Home Builder’s Association of the Metro Riverbend area and a member of the Bethalto Knights of Columbus and was a First Degree Knight.
Survivors include his mother; two sisters; several nieces and nephews and three great-nephews.
Burial was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Beverly Mangini
Services were held Monday at Gent Funeral Home for Beverly A. Mangini of Alton and Harlingen, Texas.
Mrs. Mangini, 70, died December 10.
She was born July 12, 1938 in Hamden, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Julia (Serifino) Galagher.
She worked at the Winchester Division of Olin Corporation for 38 years.
Survivors include a son, Michael Vincent Mangini of Jerseyville; a companion and close friends.

Mary Helena Gray
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville for Mary Helena Gray, infant daughter of Steven M. and Amy J. (Tuetken) Gray.
She died shortly after birth December 13 at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis.

Mrs. Weed, 54, died December 2 at her home.
She was born June 30, 1954, the daughter of William and Delores Y. (Fairless) Bowman. She married George Richard Weed in 1980.
She grew up in Grafton and moved to Kane after her marriage.

He was born December 6, 1916 in Jersey County, the son of the late Louis and Lucy (Grainer) Loy. He married Doris (Reed) Loy in 1936; she died in 1992.
Mr. Loy was a farmer.

Mrs. Tuey, 62, died December 4 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born October 17, 1946 in Alton, the daughter of Lucille Theresa (Tonsor) Hamblen of Jerseyville and the late James Theodore “Ted” Hamblen. She married Charles Eugene Tuey in 1969.
She retired as a director of Illinois Valley Child Care and was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.

Harold E. Mozier
Private services were held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton for Harold E. Mozier.
Mr. Mozier, 84, died December 1 at Jerseyville Manor.
He was born August 5, 1924 in Hamburg, the son of the late Van Dale and Myrtle (Tavernier) Mozier. He married Roberta L. Jouett in 1978.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in Patton’s 3rd Army and was wounded December 25, 1944. He earned the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of Westlake Country Club, the Jerseyville Moose Lodge and served as a Scoutmaster for years and a Khoury League coach.
He owned and operated Harold’s Amusements in Jerseyville from 1947 until his retirement in 2006.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lisa (Eric) Pistorius and Judy Mozier, all of Jerseyville; a son, Alan Mozier of Kane; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his father-in-law.

Leroy McCoy
Funeral services were held Saturday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Leroy Curtis “Mac” McCoy of Grafton.
Mr. McCoy, 76, died December 1 at Jersey Community Hospital.
He was born April 21, 1932 in Otterville, the son of Lois Irma (Ridenour) McCoy and the late Halley Leroy McCoy. He married the former Glenna Belle DeSherlia in 1949; she died in 1996.
As a young man, he began working at Coca Cola Bottling Company in Alton and retired as a route salesman after 37 years of service. He also worked on his farm in Rosedale Township.
Survivors include his mother; three sons, Gary McCoy of Jerseyville, Donnie McCoy and Tony (Carmen) McCoy, all of Grafton; three daughters, Melody Rowling and Tina (Matt) Heitzman all of Jerseyville and Tammy (Alan) Simpson of Dow; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a brother, Roland “Boots” McCoy of Dow.
Burial was in Meadowbranch Cemetery in rural Grafton.

‘Sue’ Gilworth

She was born January 7, 1912 in Jerseyville, the daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Filligar) Worthey. She married Raymond Gilworth in 1933; he died in 1990.

Dylan Howell
A Mass of the Angels was held Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grafton for Dylan Sawyer Howell of Dow.
Dylan, 7, died December 2 at his home surrounded and comforted by those who loved him most.
He was the son of Eugene and Paula (Stumpf) Howell of Dow.
Despite his illness, he made the most of any opportunity to experience life. He loved monster trucks, the St. Louis football Rams and riding in the Mustang convertible. He attended West Elementary School in Jerseyville and Grafton Elementary and most recently, had begun instructions at the William BeDell ARC in Alton.
Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Erick and Matthew at home; his grandparents, James and Joanne Howell of Jerseyville and Eugene and Rose Stumof of Batchtown; great-grandprents and numerous aunts and uncles and extended family.
Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Mr. Martin, 72, died December 6 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born February 2, 1936 in Jerseyville, the son of the late Otis Preston Martin and Hattie Eileen (Champlin) Martin. He married Wanda V. Richenberger in 1986.
He worked for many years as a painter, having been employed at Clark Painting and Hartman and Walsh Painting, both in St. Louis. A U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Painters Union Local 471 of Collinsville and District Council 58.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters; two sons, including John Martin of Jerseyville; two stepsons; two stepdaughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Linda) Martin of Jerseyville and a sister, Clara (Dean) Huff of Medora.

Mr. Bridges, 62, died December 9 at his home.
He was born December 19, 1945 in Jerseyville, the son of the late William L. and Clara B. (Watts) Bridges. He married the former Patricia Betz in 1967.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a route salesman for Colonial Bakery and Lewis Brothers Bakery.

Virginia King
Funeral services were held Saturday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Virginia King.
Mrs. King, 78, died November 25 at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born October 30, 1930 in Mt. Carmel, the daughter of the late James Basil and Frances E. (Case) Prather. She married Ishmael Glenn King in 1947; he died in 1994.
She and her husband resided in several different locations throughout the state and operated beauty salons in Centralia, Kane and Bunker Hill. After returning to Jerseyville, she began working at Westtown Beauty Shop. In 1994, she began working as a hostess at 518 South and was employed there until it closed.
Survivors include three daughers, Connie (Ronald) Dean and Gaylene (Joseph) McKennon, all of Jerseyville and Nancy (Steve) Rue of Dow; a son, Thomas (Ellen) King of Springfield; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a brother and a sister.

Sandra Howard
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville for Sandra Kay Howard.
Mrs. Howard, 61, died November 27 at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1947 in Carrollton, the daughter of Albert and Alvina (Meyer) Blumenberg. She married Robert E. Howard in 1994; he died in 2001.
She was raised in Hamburg and was a resident of Calhoun County for many years.
She was employed as a medical assistant with the Department of Children and Family Services in Alton and after moving to Jerseyville, she became active with the Jerseyville Elks Lodge, where she was employed and was also active in its Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her companion, Andy McIver of Jerseyville; two sons, Anthony (Linda) Gresham of mozier and Gregory (Jennifer) Gresham of Hamburg; three stepsons; two step grandchilldren and four brothers.

Randall Holyfield
Funeral services were held Friday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Randall Kim Holyfield of Alton.
Mr. Hoyfield, 46, died November 25 at his home.
He was born July 24, 1962 in Alton, the son of Rayburn and Margaret (Dunning) Holyfield. He married Kyong “Kay” Mun in 1988.
He grew up in the rural Grafton area and was a 1982 graduate of Jersey Community High School. Shortly after graduation he enished in the U.S. Army where he served in Korea for a short time and stateside durign the Gulf War.
After his discharge, he returned to the area and was employed as an industrial maintenance mechanic at Millineum Railroad in Wood River for the past 15 yers.
Survivors include his wife; parents; a son; three sisters, including Deborah (James) Beasley of Grafon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Noble Cemetery in Otterville with full military rites given by Jerseyville American Legion Post #492.

Edna Bellm

Mrs. Bellm, 91, died November 25 at the Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center in Hardin.
She was born September 12, 1917 in Hardin, the daughter of the late Frank L. and Bernieces (Grandsinger) Hazelwonder. She married Norbert Bellm in 1937; he died in 1992.
She grew up in Calhoun County and graduated from Hardin High School. After her marriage, they moved to St. Louis; after their retirement, they moved to Jerseyville.
Survivors include two sons; seven grandchldren; 12 great-grandchildren and a brother.
Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Michael.

Mrs. Pero, 76, died November 11 at her home.
She was born April 1, 1932 in Tamaroa, the daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes (Kuberski) Bochantin. She married John W. Pero in 1952.
She was a 1950 graduate of Pickneyville High School and after her marriage, they lived in Bethalto, Virginia and moved to Jerseyville in 1961 when John was transferred by the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension.
She had been employed as a sales clerk at Sessels Department Store and as a secretary for many years for the Soil and Waste Conservation District in Jerseyville, retiring in 1991. She also had been a member of the Junior Women’s Club, Jersey County Home Extension and the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Constance (Tom) Pero-Fox of Jerseyville, Cindy (Ed) Settles of Waterloo and Debbie (Dennis) Merli of Bethalto; five grandchildren; two brothers and a sister.

Mr. Leach, 71, died November 10 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born in January, 1937 in Girard, the son of the late Donald R. and Zelma (Jackson) Leach. He married the former Arzella Donnie Calhoun in 1954.
He recently retired after being an electrician and service technicin for his entire career. His most recent employment was with Zimmerman Equipment Company in Litchfield. In the early 1970s he was the manager of Alton Dragway.
Survivors include his wife; three sons; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Johnson of Jerseyville and a brother.

Paul J. Bechtold

Mr. Bechtold, 79, died October 22 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1929 in Beltrees, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Wendle) Bechtold. He married the former Margaret Mary Grelle in 1953.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Owens-Illinois Machine Manufacturing in Godfrey after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beltrees.

Brian M. Womack
Funeral services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Grafton for Brian M. Womack.
Mr. Womack, 22, died Wednesday at Jersey Community Hospital.
He was born December 10, 1985, the son of David Womack, jr. (Jennifer) of Grafton and Jennifer Womack of Springfield. He married Heather Bell in 2007.
He was a laborer in brick laying.
Survivors include his parents and wife; a son, Hayden M. Womack of Grafton; a sister; two brothers, Reis Gaffney and Elijah Womack, both of Grafton; a nephew and niece; paternal grandparents David and Kara Womack of Grafton; maternal grandparents, Robert and Beverly Kraushaar of Godfrey; paternal great-grandparents and maternal great-grandmother, Mary Kraushaar of Alton.

Sue Wade
Funeral services were held Saturday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Sierra Sue Wade.
Mrs. Wade, 64, died October 29 at her home.
She was born July 28, 1944 om Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of the late Albert Harold and Grace (Richard) McEvers. She married Gary Wade in 1962.
She was a 1962 graduate of Jersey Community High School. She worked at the Stadium Theater for 11 yeas and was a clerk at Movie Mart for 14 years.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Terri (Darin) Howland, Sheryl (Don) Simpson and Debbie (Mike) Bader, all of Jerseyville; two granddaughters; three step grandchildren and a brother, Burl “Lucky” (BJ) McEvers of Kane.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton for Daniel E. Springer of Brighton.
Mr. Springer, 52, died October 29 at his home.
He was born April 21, 1956 in Alton, the son of Jackie G. and Pearl Edna (Stamm) Springer. He married Trudy Joiner in 1977.
He owned and operated Dave and Dan’s Auto Salvage in Alton since 198.
Survivors include his parents and wife; three daughters; a son; eight grandchilden; four brothers and three sisters, including Joannie Cassens of Grafton.

Analdo Webb
Funeral services were held Saturday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton for Analdo E. Webb.
Mr. Webb, 90, died October 28 at Jerseyville Manor.
He was born August 14, 1918 in Shumway, the son of the late Arthur and Bertha (Bruns) Webb. He married the former Thelma Horath in 1940; she died in 2003.
He retired in 1983 as the manager of Rauch Lumber Co. in Hazelwood, Misouri and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Grafton American Legion Post 648 and Alton VFW Post 1308.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Dennis) Flowers of Grafton; a son; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, with full military rites given by VFW Post 1308 and Grafton American Legion Post 648.

Herbert Dierking
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Herbert Harrison Dierking of Medora.
Mr. Dierking, 53, died October 31 near Elsah, concluding a 13-day search after he was reported missin while fishing on the Mississippi River October 18.
He was born November 15, 1954 in Jerseyville, the son of the late Forrest Harrison and Mildred Marie (Heidersheid) Dierking. After the death of his parents, he was raised by his grandparents, the late Dewey and Marie A. (Goshorn) Heidersheid. He married the former Carla Cameron in 1979.
He graduated from Jersey Community High School and after graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
He had been employed for 18 years with the State of Illinois serving as a corrections officer for Pere Marquette Boys Camp in Grafton for nine years, Jacksonville Correctional Center for four years and for the past five years, had been employed with the Greene County Work Camp in White Hall.
Fishing was his love. He owned and operated Herb’s Bait and Tackle Shop in Jerseyville for many years and was a commercial fisherman, as well as providing fish for many organizations and churches, including Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville, where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife; four children, David (Barb) Dierking and Diane Dierking of Medora, Daniel (Tonya) Dierking of Brighton and Donna (Joshua) Curren of Groton, Connecticut and four grandchildren.

Howard DeVerger, jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Howard DeVerger, jr.
Mr. Deverger, 85, died November 1 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born March 1, 1923 in Jersey County, the son of the late Howard and Daisy Mae (Gray) DeVerger, sr. He married the former Dorothy L. Camerer in 1969.
He was retired from farming and owned and operated the Hardin Drive Inn and was an appliance salesman. He was a lifetime member of the Calhoun Masonic Lodge #792 in Hardin.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, including Pam (George) Barker of Delhi; three sons, including Roger DeVerger of Jrseyville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a brother, Judson (Nellie) DeVerger.
Burial was in Fieldon Cemetery.

Thomas Collins
A memorial service was held Wednesday at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Thomas Winston Collins.
Mr. Collins, 69, died November 2 at Jersey Community Hospital.
He was born February 13, 1939 in Jerseyville, the son of the late Edward and Gretchen (Waters) Collins. He married Ruby Cope in 1969.
He was a retired farmer, retired animal control officer in Jersey County and a retired bus driver for the Jersey School District, serving 28 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Randall Scott Collins of Jerseyville; two grandchildren; a brother; two sisters, Mary Florence McBride and Judy Kay Collins, both of Jerseyville; several nieces and nephews; a step-mother, Virginia Collins; step-brothers and a step-sister and other extended family.

Bobby Joe Robertson
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today, 11 a.m.) at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Bobby Joe Robertson.
Mr. Robertson, 61, died November 3 at his home.
He was born October 1. 1947 in Wisner, Louisiana, the son of Willie (Peoples) Robertson of Jerseyville and the late Woodrow W. Robertson.
He attended Jersey Community High School and graduated from Ferriday, Louisiana. He enrolled at the Northeast Louisiana State University and soon enlisted with the U.S. Army where he served two tours during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he settled in Texas and was employed as a school teacher in Lewisville, Texas and spend many years in management, serving in the fast food, gorcery and automobile industries. He retired in 1992 and returned to Jerseyville.
Survivors include his mother; a daughter; three grandchildren; two sisters, including Margaret (Larry) Rawlings of Jerseyville and three brothers, including Paul (Laura) Robertson of Grafton and David Robertson of Jerseyville.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville with full military rites given by the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492.

Thomas C. Jun
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton for Thomas C. Jun, jr. of Alton.
Mr. Jun, 72, died October 20 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1936 in Alton, the son of Celesta (Karns) Jun of Godfrey and the late Thomas C., sr. He married Valerie Louise Dennis in 1961; she died in 2005.
He worked with his father, Thomas C. Jun, sr., who founded Jun Construction in 1946. In the early 1960’s, he started Frontier Construction and helped develop Villa Marie Subdivision. Upon his father’s retirement, he assumed control of Jun Construction which still thrives today as a third generation general contracting firm. He was also a member of Local 377 Union Carpenter’s Hall.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a board member of ARC, the Catholic Children’s Home in Alton, the National Association of Home Builders, the Beverly Farm Foundation and a former president of the Marquette Booster Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Alton and the Alton-Wood River Sportsman’s Club.
Survivors include his mother; two daughters and a son, including Bradley (Kirsten) Jun of Jerseyville; six grandchildren; two brothers and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.

Mr. Bechtold, 79, died October 22 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1929 in Beltrees, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Wendle) Bechtold. He married the former Margaret Mary Grelle in 1953.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Owens-Illinois Machine Manufacturing in Godfrey after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beltrees.

Verna Wells
A memorial service was held Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Verna H. Wells.
Mrs. Wells, 93, died October 17 at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born January 8, 1915 in Jersey County, the daughter of the late Charles Antone and Josephine (Atwood) Houseman. She married Russel D. Wells in 1936; he died in 1994.
She had been employed in the manufacturing sector the majority of her life, working at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville, Owens-Illinois Glass in Alton and retired as a plant supervisor from Baughmann Manufacturing in Jerseyville.
Survivors include a son, James Antone “Tony” (Margie) Wells of Alton; two granddaughters; a step granddaughter; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family.
Per her request, her body was cremated. Burial of her ashes will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Edith ‘Gus’ Bean
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Edith “Gus” Bean of Kane.
Mrs. Bean, 78, died October 17 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis.
She was born November 15, 1929 in Kane Township, Greene County, the daughter of Clarence “Shine” and Lyda (Murray) Erwin. She married Leslie E. Bean in 1951.
She attended Kane High School and graduated in 1947 from Jersey Township High School. She attended Kane Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Debra (Joe) Pluester and Kathleen (Paul “Snow”) Herkert, all of Hardin and Doug (Cindy) Bean of Carrollton; eight grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
Burial was in Kane Cemetery.

Mr. Greding, 29, died October 19 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
He was born September 9, 1979 in Alton, the son of Randy and Deborah Greding of Dow. He married the former Myra Renee Sievers in 2004.
He was a 1998 graduate of Jersey Community High School and had a passion for classic cars; he was especially proud of his 1970 Chevelle and 1980 Malibu.
Survivors include his parents and wife; a daughter, Alexis Renee Greding; his grandparents, Larry and Helen Greenwell of Dow; his in-laws, William and Rita Sievers of Meppen and other extended family.

Keith Wellhausen
A memorial graveside service will be held Thursday (today, 11 a.m.) at Carrollton City Cemetery for Keith Wellhausen of Carlinville.
Mr. Wellhausen, 92, died October 18 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.
He was born August 19, 1916 in Greene County, the son of the late Christopher and Dolly (Gilleland) Wellhausen. He married the former Alma V. Garrison; she died in 1970. He then married Doris Elliott; who preceded him in death. He later married Clara Tucker, who died in 2003.
Survivors include a daughter; a son; a stepdaughter and stepson; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

David ‘Doc’ Collins
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday (10 a.m.) at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville for David L. “Doc” Collins.
Mr. Collins, 89, died October 20 at Jersey Community Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1919 in Jersey County, the son of the late David Michaell and Margaret “Maggie” (Baum) Collins. He married the former Roberta “Bette” Young in 1943; she died in 1984. He married Barbara (Schleper) Arger in 1988.
He was raided on the family farm in Jersey County and graduated from Jersey Township High School in 1937; in 1941 he enlisted in U.S. Army serving his country during World War II.
In addition to farming, he was employed with Modern Plumbing in East Alton for 27 years, and was a member of Local 553.
He was devoted to his family, his church, his country and the citizens of Jersey County.
He was a precinct committeeman for many years for Fidelity Township, was currently serving on the Jersey Township Board, served the Jersey County Board for 16 years, the last four years as Board Chairman and was appointed by the Governor to serve as the Jersey County Public Guardian.
He was a member of the Democratic party, the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree member and served as a past Grand Knight, Jerseyville American Legion, Elks and Moose Lodges.
Survivors include his wife; to daughters, Pamela Heitzig of Jerseyville and Sue (Tom) Raftis of Macomb; three sons, David (Kimberly) Collins of Bethalto, John (Lisa) Collins and Mike (Connie) Collins, all of Jerseyville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step children; 11 step grandchildren; a brother, Emmett “Pee Wee” Collins of Jerseyville and two sisters, Eileen Gress of Dixon, Missouri and Maurietta Gibbons of Alton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at Crawford Funeral Home with prayer services will be at 2:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Chalice presentation at 7:30 p.m.

Helen Kraut
A funeral Mass was held Friday at St. Norbrt’s Catholic Church in Hardin for Helen B. Kraut of Batchtown.
Mrs. Kraut, 90. died September 30 at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born December 1, 1917 in Hillview, the daughter of the late Fred and Cora (Cox) Staats. She married Harold J. “Boge” Kraut in 1938.
She was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Batchtown, St. Barbara’s church choir and the American Legion Auxiliary in Batchtown. She was the local fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and a charter member of the Home Extension. She helped organize the first PTA and the hot lunch and immunization programs in the Calhoun County Country Schools.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, including Michael (Anita) Kraut of Jerseyville; four daughters; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in St. Norbert’s Cemetery.

Norma Jean Settles
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River for Norma Jean Settles of Rosewood Heights.
Mrs. Settles, 83, died September 27 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born May 6, 1925 in White Hall, the daughter of the late Orville Ray and Maudie Louella (Dossett) Blackketter. She married Harold Eugene Settles in 1950; he died in 2005.
After graduating from White Hall High School, she took a job as a machinist at Olin Corporation, where she worked for 31 years until retiring in 1987. She was a lifetime member of the Westerner Club.
Survivors include three children; four grandchildren; twin great-grandsons; amd two sisters, including Betty (Donnie) Rawe of Jerseyville.
Burial was in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

He was a mold maker at Owens-Illinois Glass for 40 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, the Owls Club and the Alton Eagles.

She was a lifelong resident of Jerseyville. After graduating from high school, she began working at the International Shoe Factory and as a waitress.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Bruce) Wilson of Medora and Karen (Dean) Lynch of West Memphis, Arkansas; four grandchildren and a brother, Arnold “Arnie” Madson.

She was born June 27, 1939 in Jerseyville, the daughter of Alice (Bopp) Allen of Jerseyville and the late Floyd E. Allen. She married Carl Stone in 1956.
She was a merchandiser for Driveline.

Charles Miller

Mr. Miller, 85, died September 24 at the home of his daughter.
He was born July 13, 1923 in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of the late John Raab and Stella Edith (Johnson) Miller. He married the former Bertha Starner in 1946.
He was a 1942 graduate of Medora High School and joined the U.S. Navy serving in the 84th Seabees during World War II. Since his marriage, he was a resident of Jerseyville and worked for the City of Jerseyville street department, in maintenance at Principia College in Elsah and retired in 1989 from McDonnell-Douglas were he had been employed as a maintenance painter for 22 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Jane (Chester) Keene and Rebecca (Delbert) Kallal, all of Jerseyville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, including Emma Lou Sullivan of Jerseyville; two brothers, including Richard Miller of Jerseyville; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Donald Manns

Mr. Manns, 78, died September 26 at St. Anthony’s Health Center.
He was born March 7, 1930 in Alton, the son of the late William and Theresa (Wegener) Manns. He married Gloria Howard in 1964.
He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Alton and worked for the Alton Telegraph as a pressman, retiting in 1995. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife; a brother; a sister, Rosemary Graham of Jerseyville; nine nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.

He was born in Dow January 10, 1945.

Martha Boegemann
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Martha Boegemann of Rosedale Township.
Mrs. Boegemann, 89, died September 25 at Christian Hospital Northeast.
She was born December 31, 1918 in Monroe City, Missouri, the daughter of the late George Washington and Nola C. (Daniels) Stone. She married Cyril John Boegemann in 1947; he died in 1993.
She and her husband lived in St. Louis for many years before moving to Rosedale in 1960. They were members of the Rosedale United Methodist Church and she worked as a cook at Grafton Elementary School for 21 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at a later date at the McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport.

He was born January 3, 1937 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of the late Albert D. and Florence M. (Nielson) Warner. He married Betty Sergeant in 1986; she died in 1999.
He was a supervisor at a paint company and also owned and operated a bar in South Carolina. He was a member of Painters Local 471 in East Alton.
Survivors include a son, Robert D. Warner, jr. of Jerseyville; a daughter; five grandchildren; a brother and two sisters.
Per his request, his body was cremated.

Gladys Davis
Funeral services will be held Friday (1p.m.) at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Gladys Vera Davis.
Mrs. Davis, 77, died September 30 at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis County.
She was born July 16, 1931 in Jerseyville, the daughter of the late Otis Preston and Hattie (Champlin) Martin. She married Wilbert V. “Webb” Davis in 1952.
She graduated from Jersey Township High School and worked in the packing department at Owens-Illinois in Alton until the plant closing. She later became employed with the Jersey County Health Department, where she was a home health care aide.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Melodie “WeeGee” Clark of Jerseyville; a son, Thomas P. (Doris) Davis of Rosewood Heights; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Mae (Dean) Huff of Jerseyville and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Donald Kallal
Funeral services were held Friday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Donald Dean Kallal of Kane.
Mr. Kallal, 77, died September 16 at his home.
He was born October 4, 1930 in Jerseyville, the son of the late Francis J. “Sam” and Alice (Woolsey) Kallal. He married the former Ida G. Brooks in 1952; she died in 2001.
He was a member of the Jehovah Witness and was employed at Laclede Steel in Alton for 35 years, retiring in 1982 as a forklift driver.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda (Jerry) Meyer and Kathleen (Doug) Henderson, all of Kane, Bonna Driver of Jerseyville and Teresa (Dion) Fry of Florissant, Missouri; two sons, Donald (Wendy) Kallal and Ronald (Cindy) Kallal, all of Patterson; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and six brothers, James, Eddie and Charles Kallal, all of Jerseyville and Gerald and Sam Kallal, both of Kane.
Burial was in Kane Cemetery.

Donald Strebel
Funeral services will be held Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Donald Edward Strebel of Rockbridge.
Mr. Strebel, 73, died September 18 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born September 26, 1934 in Jerseyville, the son of the late Lloyd and Ettie Mae (Whitlock) Strebel. He married the former Joanna Fields in 1973; she died in 1992. He later married Vera (Brannan) Bailey in 1993.
He began his military career soon after he graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1952. He served with the U.S. Navy, with the majority of that time spent in the Middle East, retiring in 1972 after 20 years of service.
After his retirement, he attended Lewis and Clark Community College where he received a degree in law enforcement and then served as a radio dispatcher for the Jersey County Sheriff’s Department for several years.
Survivors include his wife; two stepchildren; a brother, Charles Strebel of Colorado Springs, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Theresa Killian
Funeral services were held Monday at Irwin Chapel in Granite City of Theresa C. (Scharafinski) Killian.
Mrs. Killian, 80, died September 18 at Willow Rose Nursing Home in Jerseyville.
She was born November 12, 1927 in Missouri, the daughter of the late Michael and Celina (Studler) Scharafinski. She married Woodrow Albert Killian; he died in 1985.
She was an office clerk for Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis and attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City.
Survivors include two sons, including Tim (Loretta) Killian of Jerseyville; three grandchildren and three sisters.
Burial was in St. John Cemetery in Granite City.

Morelan J. Powel
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today, 11 a.m.) at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville for Morelan J. Powel.
Mrs. Powel, 89, died Sunday at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born January 12, 1919 in Hamburg, the daughter of the late Charles C. and Lula (Rosa) Ringhausen. She married Paul E. Powel in 1943; he died in 2001.
She worked for six years at the Jersey County Farm Bureau. She was a 1936 graduate of Jersey Township High School and was queen her senior year.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, having joined when she was 12, and served the church as a Deacon and chairperson of the Morning Circle. She was a member of Westlake Country Club, leader of a Girl Scout troop and the Jerseyville Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (John) Punis of St. Charles and Martha Sue (Jack) Portman of Carrollton, Texas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Sharon Perkinson

Mrs. Perkinson, 73, died September 23 at her home.
She was born January 12, 1935 in Grafton, the daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy “Dottie” (Chappee) Keehner and her stepfather, the late Raymond Glatt. She married Charles J. Perkinson in 1952; he died in 2002.
She attended Alton schools and was employed as a cook at Beverly Farms, retiring in 1982 after 25 years.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville for Janet Gayle (Egelhoff) Seaton of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Seaton, 74, formerly of Jerseyville, died June 26.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James B. Seaton.
She attended William Woods College and the University of Missouri, where she graduated with a masters degree in economics in 1957. She held teaching positions at Carnegie Mellon University and the Youth Learning Center in Oakland.
Survivors include three daughters; two brothers, Rodger Egelhoff of Jerseyville and Thomas Egelhoff of Bozeman, Montana; three nieces; three nephews and 12 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Purcell, 65, died September 9 at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born October 27, 1942 in Alton the daughter of the late Calvin and Wreatha (Clothier) Field. She married James Purcell in 1963.
She worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Works as a box maker, accountant with Giberson, Foutch and Webb Insurance Co. in Bethalto and retired as an accountant with Lang Accounting Firm in Florissant, Missouri. She has also taught accounting at Lewis & Clark Community College.
She was a member of the Jerseyville Quilting Guild.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patty (Egan) Harder of Jerseyville; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Purcell of Jerseyville; five grandchildren, Richard and James Harder, Erica Jenkins and Brandi Harder; three sisters and a brother.

Mr. Spaulding, 82, died September 10 at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born January 16, 1926 in Jerseyville, the son of the late H. Eugene and Helen (Rogers) Spaulding. He married Jean Jennings in 1953.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran with the 20th Armored Division that liberated Dachau Concentration Camp. He was retired from Krause Mfg. Co. in Jerseyville. He was a National American Legion and life member of the Jerseyville Masonic Lodge #394.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jane (Greg) Coffey of Edwardsville; a son, Ron (Josie) Spauldingof Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren and a brother.

Carmen Woodring

Mrs. Woodring, 64, died September 12 at Willow Rose Rehab and Health Care in Jerseyville.
She was born January 3, 1944 in Jerseyville, the daughter of Winona (Wineland) Tucker of Jerseyville and the late Arthur “Bud” Tucker. She married Marlin “Woody” Woodring in 1984.
A lifelong Jersey County resident, she was a 1962 graduate of Jersey Community High School. She had been employed at Temple Cleaners in Alton for 16 years, and began working as a presser at Piasa Cleanders in Alton when it initially opened; she worked there six years before retiring. She was a devoted and loyal member of the Church of the Nazarene in Jerseyville, serving as a Sunday School teacher and working with the “Caravan Kids”.
Survivors include her mother and husband; four children, Robin (Morris) Booth, Michael Burgess (Patti Bella) and Darren Burgess, all of Fidelity and Douglas (Leanne) Burgess of Brighton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; five stepgrandchildren and two sisters, including Beth (Bob) Frye of Jerseyville.

He was born August 4, 1939 in Alton, the son of Dorothy Hefley Bechtold Berry and the late Bernard J. Bechtold. He married the former Carolyn Berry in 1965.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Persian Gulf War. He worked at Falcon Door in Malden and was a member of the VFW.

Larry E. Neal
Lawrence “Larry” E. Neal, 85, of Jerseyville died September 5, 2008 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Per his wishes, his body was donated to the Washington University School of Medicine. No memorial service will be held.
He was born April 24, 1923 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of the late Frank E. and Alice (Hogan) Neal. He married the former Mary Margaret Niviens in 1943.
He was a Master Sgt. in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired supervisor of maintenace with the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Westlake Country Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Ambassadors, all of Jerseyville and the Sportsman’s Club of Alton.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter-in-law, Susan Neal of St. Louis; a grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. O’Donnell, 90, died September 4 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born March 4, 1918 in Hardin, the son of the late Thomas and Dorothea (Godar) O’Donnell. He married Emma Mae Morgan in 1942; she preceded him in death.
He served for 16 years on the Jersey County Board, where he enjoyed working on the Road and Bridge Committee. He was employed at the Illinois Powder Company in Grafton in his early years, continuing to farm on the family farm. In his later years, he was in the real estate business specializing in farm appraisals.
Survivors include four daughters, Katheleen Atkinson of Elberta, Alabama, Judith Zimmer of Barcelona, Spain, Cynthia Tranquilli of Alvarado, Texas and Margaret Carrow of Godfrey; a son, Thomas O’Donnell of Bradenton, Florida; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister.

For many years she was employed as a telephone operator in Jerseyville and she and her husband George Ray operated a drive-in on State Street. In later years, she was a day care operator.

She was born December 5, 1919 in Avalon, Missouri, the daughter of the late William P. and Stella (Baymiller) Beever. She married Elgie W. “E.W.” Posey in 1943; he died in 2003.
She was employed in the educational field, as was her husband for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jersey Community Hospital Wellness Center and the D.A.R.
Survivors include her children, including Thomas (Pamela) Posey of Fairbury, Pamela (Brad) Smith of Chadron, Nebraska, Scott Posey of Fairview Heights and Suzanne (Gary) Goode of Jerseyville; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and a sister.

He was born August 9, 1956 in Effingham, the son of Gene Rhodes and the late Bernice (Wolfert) Rhodes. He married Cheryl (McEuen) in 1978.
He was employed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as a conservation officer for over 28 years. He was a trainer at the academy for several years and received numerous awards including Officer of the Year twice and Valor Award. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and the Bethalto Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother; three children; two brothers; a sister; many extended family, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Kenneth Eugene Campbell, Sr.
Mr. Campbell, 72, died August 13 at his home.
He was born July 20, 1936 in Eldred, the son of the late Raymond and Sadie (Eisler) Campbell. He married the former Nola Bea Crotchett in 1959.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving overseas in Germany for two years.
He worked for Olin Corp. for a few years, before becoming a route salesman for Pepsi-Cola for 29 years. After retirement, he began working for Jefferson Smurfitt, Suncon and the maintenance department at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.

She has been a waitress and bartender in several locations in Jerseyville.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Brown of Alton, Sandra Ursch of Collinsville and Christina Brown of Huntsville, Alabama; two sons, James Ursch and Richard Ursch, both of Godfrey; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brandy and Billy Hillig for the care given during her illness.

Mary E. Croxford
A memorial service will be held Saturday (noon) at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Mary E. Croxford of Godfrey.
Mrs. Croxford, 67, died August 14 at her home.
She was born January 31, 1941 in Jersey County, the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Kocher) Ullrich. She married Edward Croxford in 1959.
She had retired as a bookkeeper from Beverly Farms Foundation in Godfey and was a volunteer at the Beverly Farms Gift Shop. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Wood River and the Red Hats of Beverly Farms.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Trish Croxford of Godfrey; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter and a brother.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. Saturday to the time of the service at the funeral home.
Per her request, her body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine.

Mary Lou Pranger
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton for Mary Lou Pranger.
Mrs. Pranger, 75, died August 17 at Willow Rose Rehab and Health Center in Jerseyville.
She was born November 11, 1932 in Alton, the daughter of the late Glen and Lillian Myer Elmore. She married Henry J. Pranger in 1956; he died in 1995.
She was employed at the Dairy Queen in Carrollton for 23 years, retiring in 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, including Vicky Whited of Jerseyville; three sons; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the church cemetry.

Jack S. Greaves
Jack S. Greaves, 65, of Carrollton, died August 15 at his home.
Per his request, his body was cremated and no services are planned.
He was born October 27, 1942 in Carrollton, the son of the late Donald C. and Norma (Alfeld) Greaves. He married the former Linda Baumgartner in 1966.
He grew up in Carrollton and played softball for many years. He was employed in the construction business and assisted many with his skills in wiring, plumbing and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife; three children; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
Crawford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lester Goheen
Funeral services were held Saturday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Lester Lee “Hank” Goheen of Dow.
Mr. Goheen, 85, died August 5 at Jerseyville Manor.
He was born July 31, 1923 in Greene County, the son of the late Charles and Alice B. (Ashford) Goheen. He married the former Philomena Breitweiser in 1941; she died in 2007.
At the age of 9, his family moved to the Newbern area and he was a resident of the Dow/Newbern area all of his life. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a press operator with Louisiana Dock Company in Alton, retiring in 1988 after 22 years of service.
He was a former member of the American Legion and Boilermakers Union.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Joann) Goheen and William (Linda) Goheen, all of Dow; Lester Goheen of Brighton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two brothers, Charles “Doc” Goheen of Dow and Ernest “Snooks” Goheen of Godfrey.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Paul Wieneke
Funeral services were held Saturday at Jerseyville First Assembly of God Church for Paul Edward Wieneke.
Mr. Wieneke, 80, died August 5 at his home.
He was born July 20, 1928 in Roxana, the son of the late Frederic Joseph and Gertrude Emma (Thurm) Wieneke. He married the former Naomi Ruth Flack in 1951.
He retired from the Carpenters Union Local #377 in Alton/Wood River. He was a member of the Jerseyville First Assembly of God Church, RV Maps Volunteers and Carpenters Local #377.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Philip (Valore) Wieneke of Springfield, Missouri and Frederic (Rhonda) Wieneke of McClusky; three daughters, Rebekah (Robert) Monroe of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Joanna (Gary) Abbott of Memphis, Tennessee and Cindy (Larry) Mullins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 11 grandchldren; three great-grandchildren and a sister.
Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery.

Catharine Etter
Catharine Etter, 92, died August 8 at Jersey Community Hospital.
Per her request, her body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
She was born April 5, 1916 in Macoupin county, the daughter of the late Herbert and Rosalie (Patchin) Etter.
She was an administrative secretary for the Alton School District and the “oldest” living member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alton. She also knitted booties for women and children for the Oasis Shelter in Alton.
Survivors include a brother; a great-nephew; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a special friend, Irma Allen of Jerseyville; together they held season tickets for the St. Louis Cardinals since 1981.
Memorials may be made to the Oasis Womens Cener Endowment Fund in Alton or the First Presbyterian Church in Alton.
Gertrude Roth
A Mass was held Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton for Gertrude L. Roth of Jerseyville.
Mrs. Roth, 83, died August 7 at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born July 26, 1952 in Batchtown, the daughter of the late Anton and Elma Mager Sievers. She married Francis J. “Moon” Roth in 1946; he died in 2001.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton and the Catholic Daughters of American.
Survivors include two daughters, including Kaye (Don) Carpenter of Elsah; two sons, including David (Karen) Roth of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two sisters.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Sue Glynn
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday (today, 10 a.m.) at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville for Sandra Sue Glynn.
Mrs. Glynn, 59, died August 10 at her home.
She was born August 31, 1948 in Carrollton, the daughter of the late Clarence C. “Sandy” and Dorothy (Frost) Sandberg. She married Tom Glynn in 1976.
She was a 1966 graduate from Jersey Community High School and previously served as a real estate agent with Groves Realty in Jerseyville. She later became employed in the auto business, serving as a sales associate for Sunderland Motors in Jerseyville for 19 years and most recently served in the same capacity at Beiermann Buick-Pontiac, both in Jerseyville.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Christy (Chris) Hayes of Jerseyville, Travis Glynn of Jerseyville and Kelly (Beau) Urban of Madison, Wisconsin; two grandchildren; a sister; two brothers; a step brother; a step sister and two much loved cousins.
Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Carrollton.

Walter Hausman
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Community Christian Church for Walter N. Hausman.
Mr. Hausman, 82, died August 5 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born August 12, 1925 in Granite City, the son of the late Walter R. and Anna Ruth (Atchison) Hausman. He married the former Shirley Heyen in 1947; she died in 1967. He then married the former Sarah “Sally” Schneider in 1985.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was an inspector for Shell Oil Co., retiring in 1989. He attended Community Christian Church in Alton.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter; three sons; twp stepchildren; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers, including Larry (Gail) Hausman of Jerseyville.
Memorials may be made to the Community Christian Church.
Karen S. Sears
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville for Karen S. Sears.
Mrs. Sears, 66, died August 1 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born August 6, 1941 in Jerseyville, the daughter of the late Edgar “Cotton” and Loretta E. (Howe) Shaw. She married Charles Sears in 1960; he died in 1983.
She retired in 2006 from the Shop ‘n Save bakery department, was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and played bunco for over 45 years.
Survivors include two sons, Joe (Brenda) Sears and Mike (Liz) Sears, all of Jerseyville; a daughter, Susie (Shannon) Hanson of Jerseyville; four grandchildren; a sister, Monica (Mark) Hake of Grafton and a cousin.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Robert Klunk
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville for Robert Eugene Klunk.
Mr. Klunk, 70, died August 2 at his home.
He was born September 26, 1937 in Jerseyville, the son of Alfred and Dorothy (Bartlett) Klunk. He married the former Janet Roth in 1960.
He worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville and then began working at Jerseyville Motor Company where he retired after 50 years of service as an auto body technician.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Robin (Lester) Bierman, Kim (David) Smith and Lori (Joe) Travers, all of Jerseyville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, including Doris (Frederick) Egelhoff of Jerseyville; two brothers, James (Henrietta) Klunk of Kane and Edwin (Karen) Klunk of Jerseyville.
Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be made to masses, St. Francis/Holy Ghost School or Blessing Hospice of Greene County.
Bob Abbott
Funeral services were held Saturday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Herschel Robert “Bob” Abbott.
Mr. Abbott, 79, died July 29 at Harbor Side Health Care in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
He was born July 31, 1928 west of Kane, the son of the late Samuel L. and Maudie A. (Keown) Abbott.
He was a veteran of World War II and was a retired barber living in Milwaukee for many years before locating to Bowling Green.
Survivors incllude three sisters, including Elzina Morris of Jerseyville and two brothers, including Alonzo “Jack” Abbott of Jerseyville.
Burial was in Kane Cemetery.

Roscoe Shaw
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today, 10 a.m.) at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Roscoe Howard Shaw.
Mr. Shaw, 80, died August 3 at his home.
He was born March 26, 1928 in Jerseyville, the son of the late Omer Esto and Vesta (Hawkins) Shaw. He first married Claudia Cummings; he then married the foremr Doris Irene Foster. He then married Gloria (New) Hyink in 2002.
He served two tours with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He retired in 1984 from Laclede Steel in Alton where he had been employed as a crane operator for 29 years. He was a loyal blood donor to the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna (Phil) Holcomb of Jerseyville; three sons, John (Della Garrett) Shaw and Tim (Megan Storey) Shaw, all of Jerseyville and James (Jennifer) Shaw of Alton; a stepson; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his wife’s children; a brother and four sisters.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military rites given by Jerseyville American Legion Post #492.
